We know there can be no peace without justice. Yet, sadly our world experiences ongoing violence and war, making peace elusive. What is undeniably clear is that the most vulnerable segments of society are the ones who suffer the most, as their powerlessness exposes them to human greed and injustice.

The Kohima Jesuits are deeply committed to defending Human Rights and helping others, especially those who suffer injustices, ensuring that they have access to what is rightfully theirs -- most of all, a dignified existence with the respect they deserve as human beings.

Background

The Kohima Jesuits have established the Legal Cell for Human Rights (LCHR) in Guwahati.

The goal of the LCHR is to protect, promote, and defend human rights and civil liberties, especially the poor, weak, and vulnerable sections of society. It seeks to enforce human dignity and freedom as guaranteed by the Constitution of India and various UN declarations, charters, and conventions.
