School Education
The Kohima Jesuits manage 29 schools, all dedicated to serving rural indigenous communities in Northeast India. Among these, there are 6 higher secondary schools (up to Grade 12), 8 high schools (up to Grade 10), 4 Junior high schools (up to Grade 8), and 11 primary schools (up to Grade 5). With the introduction of the New Education Policy (NEP-2020) by the Government of India, the terminal grade levels at many of these schools will be adjusted.
Some of these schools also offer residential facilities for both male and female students, enabling those from remote villages to access the quality all-round education provided by the Jesuits.
The Kohima Jesuits have established a network of schools and hostels in Northeast India to accompany local communities in their efforts to overcome historical challenges which impeded their growth and development, ushering in better health, better socioeconomic development, character formation, and job accessibility.
The schools of the Kohima Jesuits are committed to excellence. They focus on the all-round education of students, integrating sports, the performing arts, value education, and service, as an integral part of the program.
Local Engagement
The communities served by Jesuit schools are grateful to have access to quality education in their villages.
Many neighbouring communities have extended numerous invitations to establish schools in their areas, but financial constraints have limited the Jesuits' ability to realistically consider opening new schools.
Institutional Engagments
Music, drama, dance, public speaking and general knowledge are some of the co-curricular activities incorporated into the school program whenever possible, providing students with opportunities to nurture and develop their natural talents.
